Review: Made inChina, the Hohner HW-300G, although by all standards an entry-level instrument, has been around for many years and proven its value over time. It offers many features that are surprising in an economy-priced instrument. A very solidly built guitar is a plus at the student level where instruments are frequently subjected to rough treatment. The HW-300G has a dreadnaught-size body and features a 20-fret, rosewood fretboard with a mahogany top, back, sides, and neck. It also features chrome, closed tuners that stay in tune. Although my instrument is a transparent black, it also comes in a beautiful transparent blue and in natural. All are gloss finishes which include black binding on the neck and body, pick guards, and dot inlay markers on the side of the neck and fretboard. The fit and finish of this guitar will exceed your expectations inthis price range

Additional Comments/Final Verdict: My rating for this guitar reflects comparison with other instruments in the economy or student-level class and not as compared to professional instruments. This guitar is my workhorse. It's theone in the living room that's handy to grab when inspiration strikes, to workout a new song, or to run scales for practice. I have used it miked on stage and I was pleased with its big, dreadnaught sound. I teach introductory guitar and this is the only guitar that I recommend for new students. It will consistantly serve you well, and if the student loses interest, this guitar retains its resale value (unlike many others sold at on-line auctions or on television). With so many quality features, I feel this guitar represents agreat bargain. Incidentally, although this guitar typically retails in the $120.00 price range, you can frequently find them for much less.
