Type of Gear: Acoustic Guitars
Brand Name: Dean
Model: Dean Tradition S12
Price: $339.00
Review - Please try to include as many specific details as you can:
Description: Acoustic 12-string, Solid spruce top, Mahogany (presumably laminated) back and sides, Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, chrome enclosed tuners, abalone rosette inlay, no pickguard.
Pros: Great tone, well constructed. No sloppy glue joints, braces well cut, frets dressed properly with no hanging edges. Although the finish seems excessive, it does not seem to act as a damper on the tone.
Cons: Neck instability. Everytime the strings require changing, the neck needs to be adjusted. For the casual player this may not be a problem, but for the serious player this could be a major expenditure unless one is skilled enough to do the neck adjustments for himself/herself.
Rating (On a Scale of 1-10): 5
Additional Comments/Final Verdict: When I first purchased this guitar over three years ago, I would have rated it a 9 or 10. That was before I knew theseguitars have major problems with neck stability. If one is going for a 12-string guitar, I recommend he/she save up the $$ and purchase a Guild.
