Review: In the past 35 years I have owned many high-end guitars including a Gretsch Tennessean, a Martin D-18, a Les Paul, Strats, a Gibson ES-345 stereo, an Ibanez Artist, and others. I know what a quality instrument is supposed to be. The Cort MR 727F acoustic-electric is, bar-none, the finest single instrument I have ever owned. Certainly I have personalized mine to meet my tastes. I have replaced the stuped plastic bridge pins with solid brass ones, added a rosewood armrest and a matching rosed, custom designed pickguard. I changed the factory supplied medium-gauge Elixir strings with Elixir light gauge, had the intonation set, and adjusted the action to my preference. Other than that, it came from the music store an absolute work of art. This is a cutaway model and mine is a gorgeous, stop-you-dead-in-your-tracks transparent blue with cream colored binding. One thing that really makes this guitar different is the entire instrument is made of maple (other than the rosewood fretboard. This provides aclarity and brilliance of sound that has to be heard to be believed. The flamed maple top is so beautiful it has to be seen to be believed. This model comes with state-of-the-art Fishman electronics including Prefix Stereo and Sonicore pickup. Although hauntingly beautiful when played acoustically, when you plug this guitar into an amplifier you will not be able to control the grin on yourface. The Mr727F is tastefully appointed with an abalone rosette adorning the soundhole, and featureas diecast, sealed, Grover-type tuners that stay in tune! The finish is gloss and speaks of the highest quality artistry and craftsmanship. The absolute only thing that I might critisize is the minimal fretboard inlay, consisting of small "dots." I'm not even sure I would change that because all attention is directed to the guitars finish (first) and then its incredible sound (second), and that's where it should be
Rating (On a Scale of 1-10): 10
Additional Comments/Final Verdict: Maybe I just got lucky and bought the one-in-a-million Cort MR727F guitar. As a result of this experience, I have purchased another Cort acoustic and love it as well. I cannot see myself everagain paying $3,000 to $6,000 for some over-rated, high- end name to display onmy headstock. This is especially true because now we all know that most of the "big names" are manufactured in the very same Korean and Indonesian factoriesas the Corts. Thanks for the opportunity to share what I believe is the best-kept secret in the world of guitars. The Cort MR727F is a definite keeper. I can't imagine not having this wonderful guitar.
